SOF Connect and the Ministry of Transport and Communications, Bulgaria held a formal ceremony for the official renaming of Sofia Airport to Vasil Levski Sofia Airport. The event took place in front of Terminal 2, where a visual representation of the airport’s new name was displayed on the building’s facade.
The ceremony was opened by Jesús Caballero – CEO of SOF Connect, with all attendees observing a moment of silence in honor of the Apostle of Freedom.
The event was attended by Grozdan Karadjov – Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport and Communications, Apik Garabedian – Deputy Chairman of the Association of Bulgarian Airlines, Acad. Julian Revalski – President of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (2016-2024). Also present were Tsveta Timeva – Chief Secretary to the President of the Republic of Bulgaria, official representatives, members of state institutions, the aviation sector and the academic community
By presidential decree on February 17, the President of the Republic of Bulgaria, Rumen Radev 🇧🇬, officially named Sofia Airport after the Apostle of Freedom, Vasil Levski.
The new name “Vasil Levski” – Sofia Airport will be installed on the terminal building in the coming months.
