The ongoing development of Sofia Airport benefits tourism in the whole country and ensures all seasons visitors. Creating opportunities for airlines, following best practices in management and enhancing passenger experience will contribute to air traffic increase and promoting Bulgaria as destination.
The country has a strategic location, which gives advantage as a crossroad to Middle East. Step in this direction are direct flights of Qatar Airways between Sofia and Doha, starting as of 16 December. There is significant potential to attract passengers from Middle East region, if entry rules are facilitated. Only common efforts of governmental authorities, airports, airlines, tourism organizations and all stakeholders working together could turn Bulgaria into popular destination.
