Our country, represented by SOF Connect, the operator of Sofia Airport, hosts the 46th meeting of the Economic Committee of the European Association of Airports ACI EUROPE. The ACI EUROPE Economic Committee includes top strategic and financial specialists working in the airport sector. These are both senior managers of airport operators and those who offer their services to a number of airport operators on a consultancy basis. The Economic Committee is the elite club of the ACI EUROPE association, whose membership comprises over 500 airports from 55 countries, accounting for over 90% of commercial air traffic in Europe.

The opening ceremony was also attended by the Deputy Minister of Transport and Communications – Ms Anna Mihneva-Natova and the Director General of the Civil Aviation Administration – Ms Anelia Marinova. They expressed their support and commitment to the development of the aviation sector in the country and in Europe as a whole.
On the first day of the programme of the two-day forum, SOF Connect presented the investment plans for the development and modernisation of Sofia Airport with the aim to turn it into a 5-star regional airport providing the highest quality of service and passenger satisfaction.
The event also included dynamic discussions and exchange of experiences between representatives of leading European airports. Participants discussed the challenges facing the sector and the opportunities for growth and innovation.
The second day will continue with another interesting highlights on the update of European aviation policies, the presentation of the Bulgarian start-up Dronamics and the development of cargo drones, the digital transformation of airports and the growing interest towards Bulgaria as a tourist destination.
