Important information for travelers to Varna and Burgas!
If you are planning a domestic flight from Sofia Airport, it is advisable to be at the airport 2 hours before your departure. From now on, flights will be served from gates located in the inner part of Terminal 2.
This means that you will have the opportunity to take advantage of the shops, restaurants and business lounge located in Terminal 2 before your journey.

Slot coordination

The Slot Coordination unit of SOF Connect AD is responsible to coordinate slots of Sofia Airport. The unit was set up in compliance with the provisions of Regulation (EEC) 95/93 of the Council of 18 January 1993. Sofia Airport is a level 2 schedules facilitated airport. SOF Connect AD is member of EUACA (European Airport Coordinators Association). The slot database of Sofia Airport is part of the overall database of the EUACА supported coordinated airports in the European Union.

 

Each operator has to make a request in an SMA (SCR) or GCR format.

It is particularly important that the Slot Coordination unit performs its functions on the principles of independence, neutrality and non-discrimination, strictly abiding by Regulation (EEC) 95/93 of the Council and IATA‘s Worldwide Slot Guidelines.

Slot coordination parameters at Sofia airport

Slot requests for taking-off and landing have to be issued in the IATA format (SMA, SCR or GCR), and sent to the address specified in Contacts – SITA or е-mail. Requests have to be sent for any type of flight, with the exception of emergency landings and search and rescue flights.

 

All general aviation/air taxi slots are set for Terminal 1.

Noise limitations

  • In the summer season: between 2000UTC – 0300UTC only for regular flights and training flights.
  • In the winter season: between 2100UTC – 0400UTC only for regular flights and training flights.

The limitations do not apply to charter flights.
