WWF and Vasil Levski Sofia Airport Launch an Exhibition Highlighting the Organization’s Conservation Successes in Bulgaria

WWF and Vasil Levski Sofia Airport Launch an Exhibition Highlighting the Organization’s Conservation Successes in Bulgaria.

Departing passengers from Terminal 2 at Vasil Levski Sofia Airport can now connect with nature even before their flight through the exhibition “Nature Needs Us” by WWF Bulgaria, currently on display in the departures area.
“Flying over nature shows us how beautiful, yet how vulnerable, the planet can be because of our impact. Through WWF’s exhibition, we are reminded that caring for it is not just an abstract idea, but a shared responsibility. For 20 years, WWF has been dedicated to protecting and preserving nature, demonstrating through consistent action and commitment that real change is possible. We are pleased to open the exhibition on the eve of April 22 – International Earth Day – a symbolic moment that highlights the importance of collective efforts to safeguard our planet. Caring for nature is a series of everyday actions that deliver measurable results – for us and for our children,” said Jesús Caballero, CEO of SOF Connect.

The exhibition also highlights long-term efforts for sustainable forest management and biodiversity conservation in Bulgaria, as well as the role of education and public engagement in tackling climate challenges.

Passengers will learn how, after 60 years of absence, pelicans returned to Persina Island thanks to WWF’s collaboration with Persina Nature Park. They will also discover how removing man-made barriers in the Cherni Lom and Veselina rivers helps protect otters, a threatened species in Bulgaria.

“None of our achievements over the past 20 years would have been possible without our partners and supporters. But the challenges are growing ever greater. That is why we invite everyone who carries nature in their heart to join our efforts to preserve it by becoming a regular donor,” said Veselina Kavrakova, Executive Director of WWF Bulgaria.
