ITA Airways has started regular flights to the Bulgarian capital. The airline was welcomed at the capital’s airport with a traditional water salute. The event was attended by Jesús Caballero, CEO of SOF Connect AD., Her Excellency Giuseppina Zarra, Ambassador of Italy to Bulgaria and Carla Catuogno, the airline’s Regional Manager for Europe arrived on the flight from Rome this afternoon.
“I am delighted to welcome ITA Airways flights to Sofia Airport. I remember the start in 1994 and now the new route gives additional options for travellers to Rome – everyone’s favourite destination. The flights will contribute to the development of tourism and business ties between the two countries,” said ambassador said Giuseppina Zarra, Ambassador of Italy to Bulgaria.
“We are delighted to welcome another airline that appreciates the potential of Sofia Airport, both in terms of geographical location and business facilities. ITA Airways enriches the flight connectivity of the capital’s airport and the convenient departure and arrival times meet the needs of travellers. We are actively working to achieve one million more seats in the coming months, which will bring direct benefits to the whole country,” said Airport CEO Jesus Caballero.
ITA Airways flights between Sofia and Rome are three times a week on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.
