MASTERCARD AND SOFIA AIRPORT OPEN A MODERN BUSINESS AREA WITH AN ORIGINAL DESIGN AT TERMINAL 2

Starting this week, Mastercard and Sofia Airport are giving air travelers and city guests entering through Terminal 2 the opportunity to rest and recharge their batteries in an area with an original ergonomic and ecological design. The concept of the innovative Bulgarian company Woood, developed especially for companies, combines modern product design for relaxing the body or comfortably ticking off tasks in a co-working space with state-of-the-art digital tools. Foreign guests arriving from Schengen can get acquainted with the digital guidebooks and films about the city created by Mastercard in English in an interactive corner of the zone. The area is free and accessible to everyone.

The project is a continuation of the partnership launched in 2023 #soWelcomeToSofia between the #soSofia platform, Sofia Airport and Capital Program “Culture”, which built an installation and interactive routes for guests of the city at Terminal 2 and continued with the creation of a documentary short tourist film about Sofia, presenting stories never before told in the digital world about the symbols of the capital. The project was implemented with the support of the program for the socialization of the cultural heritage of Sofia Municipality and welcomes Bulgarians and tourists arriving in the city with 30 of the most remarkable symbols of Sofia. The thirty objects from Sofia Antiquity, Modernity and Nature were selected through research by students majoring in “Sociology” at SU “St. Kliment Ohridski”, who collected a lot of information and conducted dozens of interviews to find out which are the symbols that citizens, artists and experts would recommend to guests in our city.

“Premium Mastercard cardholders enjoy loyalty privileges when traveling anywhere in the world, including free access to business lounges, fast track solutions, car rental discounts and everything that would facilitate their movements in the global world. With the Sofia Airport area, however, we want to congratulate all other travelers, Bulgarians or guests of the city, by providing them with the best of modern design and what Bulgaria offers – carefully selected and recommended by Mastercard.” Vanya Manova, Manager of Mastercard for Bulgaria, North Macedonia, Albania and Kosovo.

“At Sofia Airport, we are dedicated to enhancing the passenger experience for every guest passing through our terminals. The new ergonomic and ecological business area at Terminal 2, developed in collaboration with Mastercard, exemplifies our commitment to comfort, convenience, and modern design. This project not only provides a space for relaxation and productivity but also showcases the cultural richness of Sofia through interactive digital guides and videos. We are glad to offer this unique blend of technology and design, welcoming both Bulgarian travelers and international visitors to experience the best of what Sofia has to offer.”, said Jesus Caballero, CEO of SOF Connect – the operator of Sofia Airport.
