If you are planning a domestic flight from Sofia Airport, it is advisable to be at the airport 2 hours before your departure. From now on, flights will be served from gates located in the inner part of Terminal 2.
This means that you will have the opportunity to take advantage of the shops, restaurants and business lounge located in Terminal 2 before your journey.

NEW BAGGAGE HANDLING SYSTEM AT SOFIA AIRPORT

SOF Connect to accept proposals until 15 July

Sofia Airport has announced an Expression of Interest for the design, manufacture, supply, installation and commissioning of a new Baggage Handling System (BHS) at Terminal 2. It includes systems for both departing and arriving passengers.

Based on latest EU and National standards and providing best in class passenger experience, the new BHS will allow for significant increase in capacity, security and efficiency for checked baggage.

The innovative BHS will facilitate smart check-in process, online check-in and additional baggage reclaim belts in the arrivals area are also planned. Interested parties will be required to cover a period of 10 years for maintenance of the system.

The Baggage Handling System is the centerpiece of the transformation of the capital airport. The planned reconstruction features also more check-in counters, optimized security checks with enhanced capacity, completely new retail spaces, a whole redevelopment of dining and entertainment areas along with a major overhaul of the car park next to Terminal 2.
