If you are planning a domestic flight from Sofia Airport, it is advisable to be at the airport 2 hours before your departure. From now on, flights will be served from gates located in the inner part of Terminal 2.

OVER 621 THOUSAND PASSENGERS PASSED THROUGH SOFIA AIRPORT IN MAY

Almost 4% fewer travellers compared to the same month of 2019

Passengers travelling by air transport continue to increase and are approaching pre-pandemic levels, but remain below them this month. 612 485 passengers passed through Sofia Airport in May 2023. The airport’s data shows that this is down almost 4% on May 2019.

In the fifth month of the year, 19,702 passengers flew to our seaside cities, down around 15% compared to pre-Covid-19 figures. The figures show a 40% increase in those choosing to fly on international charter flights, or 29,827 passengers.

In the fifth month of the year, a total of 5,279 take-offs and landings were made, down only about 3% from the same month in 2019.

Cargo and mail shipments also continued to decline. Sofia Airport handled a total of 1,621 tonnes in May, down 15% from pre-pandemic levels.
