SOF CONNECT AND AVOLTA ELEVATE THE COMMERCIAL AREAS AT VASIL LEVSKI SOFIA AIRPORT

SOF Connect, in partnership with leading global travel retail and F&B player Avolta, is launching two new projects aimed at enhancing passenger experience and developing the airport as a five-star regional hub. Avolta will carry out a complete renovation of its commercial areas in Terminal 1 and will open a new duty-free shop in the non-Schengen area of Terminal 2.

The retail spaces in Terminal 1 will be transformed with the introduction of the modern “walk through” concept, in line with the best international practices. The area will be doubled in size to nearly 800 sq.m., featuring a new layout, expanded product categories, and access for all departing passengers.

A new duty-free shop will be created in the non-Schengen area of Terminal 2, covering an area of 80 sq.m. The “Last Minute” shop will offer a premium selection of perfumes and cosmetics, alcohol, chocolate products, and tobacco, as well as local food, wines, electronics, and travel accessories.

„At SOF Connect, we are committed to transforming Sofia’s airport into a modern, welcoming, and passenger-oriented gateway to Bulgaria. The renovation of the commercial areas in Terminal 1 and the new duty-free shop in the non-Schengen area of Terminal 2 are just the next steps in this journey. Together with our trusted partner Avolta, we are enhancing the passenger experience by offering more choice and convenience – creating an airport that meets passengers’ expectations.”, said
Jesús Caballero, CEO of SOF Connect.

“We are proud to continue our successful partnership with SOF Connect, built on our shared vision for elevating the passenger experience at Sofia Airport”, said Emil Georgiev, Country General Manager for Bulgaria at Avolta. “These new commercial developments, including the expanded Terminal 1 retail space and the new Terminal 2 duty-free shop, are natural extensions of our commitment to delivering world-class retail environments and meeting the evolving needs of travelers.”

The new commercial projects are a natural continuation of the successful partnership between SOF Connect and Avolta. In just one year, three new retail locations were opened in Terminal 2 of Vasil Levski Sofia Airport – the large walk-through duty-free store of nearly 2,000 sq.m., the “Last Minute” shop in the Departures area, and the retail outlet in the Arrivals zone. This dynamic development is a testament to the shared vision and dedication to providing high-quality services that meet passengers’ expectations.
