SOF CONNECT AND SSP OPENED STARBUCKS COFFEE SHOP – THE FIRST OUTLET AT SOFIA’S AIRPORT NEW F&B AREA

SOF Connect-the operator of Vasil Levski Sofia Airport, and SSP-a leading operator of food and beverage outlets in travel locations worldwide, today opened a Starbucks coffee shop.

The coffee shop, located in the Terminal 2 airside departures area, was officially opened  in time for May hollidays, by H.E. Susan Falatko – Chargé d’Affaires ad interim US Ambassador to Bulgaria, Jesus Caballero – CEO of SOF Connect and George Antoniou – Managing Director of SSP for Eastern Europe and Middle East. This is the first of a number of new outlets planned for the airport.

„I’m so impressed by the exciting changes here at Terminal 2 and it is wonderful to see Starbucks, an iconic American brand, participating in Sofia’s airport’s modernization.“, said Susan Falatko.

“We are proud to symbolicаlly inaugurate the airport’s new F&B area with Starbucks coffee shop, designed with passengers in mind. In partnership with SSP, we have created an innovative experience to suit each passenger’s journey through the airport. This demonstrates our commitment to elevate the passenger experience to the highest standards in the industry and achieve the 5-star airport rating.”, said Jesus Caballero.

George Antoniou, Managing Director of SSP Eastern Europe and Middle East, said: “We’re delighted to be working in collaboration with SOF Connect to create an outstanding airport experience. We will be bringing to the airport a strong and innovative range of bespoke, local, and international brands, many of which are making their debut in the region. With our understanding of the needs of international and local passengers, we aim to create an environment that captures the true spirit of hospitality and heritage that is so much a part of Bulgarian culture. These magnificent bars, restaurants and cafes will cement our reputation in this important market.”

The new Starbucks coffee shop, with an area of approximately 250 sq. m., and seating 110 will able to serve many customers every hour on the way to their gate. Inspired by the landscapes of coffee-growing regions, a natural colour scheme and curved ceiling recalls the mountainous terrain of coffee farms. Clearly marked walkways help passengers navigate their way through the outlet quickly and efficiently, whether ordering to take-away or drink in. The coffee menu features well-known favourites such as “Caramel Macchiato”, “White Mocha”, “Iced Latte”, and “Americano”.

This latest venture follows the formation of a partnership between SOF Connect and SSP in summer last year. As a part of the agreement, SSP will open leading global brands Burger King and TGI Fridays at a later date. These will be complemented by well-established and internationally recognized SSP brands including Camden Food Co., Levito – Pizza Pasta, Negroni, Ta.Sh.Ba, Upper Crust, Soul & Grain, Dao Dao – Asian Cuisine, and bespoke concepts – Meshana – Taste of Bulgaria and Bar 09-27.
