SOF Connect announced the members of its ESG Council at the first Sofia Airport Sustainability Community Meeting. The members are top experts and analysts in the ESG field Marina Stefanova – Deputy Dean of Sustainability, Support and Engagement at Sofia University, Martin Vladimirov – Director of the Energy and Climate Program at Center for the Study of Democracy, Martin Zaimov – Shareholder and Member of the Board of Directors of Wind of Change, Peter Georgiev – Head of Strategy and Cooperation at AMPECO and Svetla Kostadinova – Executive Director of the Institute for Market Economics.

This first Sofia Airport ESG Community Meeting brought together partners and friends of the company on its journey to a sustainable business model.
Environmental, social and governance topics are at the heart of SOF Connect’s business strategy, and ambitious targets are set to reduce carbon emissions, optimise resources, care for employees well-being, and become carbon neutral by 2036. In the past year, numerous projects have been launched in this direction, such as the replacement of Sofia Airport’s carfleet with electric vehicles, the construction of one of the largest solar parks in the country, which will guarantee over 90% energy independence, and upcoming projects towards energy efficiency in terminal buildings.
Ginette Borduas, Head of ESG and Sustainability in Meridiam, the SOF Connect’s shareholder, addressеd the participants in the meeting and talked about the shared vision on sustainability and making a positive impact for people and the planet that runs through everything which the company does in Bulgaria.
The special guest speaker on the event was Jane Dimitrova, a founder of FoodObox, the company that has made the fight against food waste in Bulgaria a cause.
