SOF Connect signed a contract with Hydroenergy Company AD (HEC) for the construction of a modern photovoltaic power plant with a capacity of nearly 5 MW at Vasil Levski Sofia Airport. The facility will be located on the airport’s own land and will produce electricity for internal consumption, thereby reducing dependence on external suppliers and supporting the operator’s efforts to achieve full decarbonisation by 2036.

The photovoltaic power plant will be built with 8,300 solar modules installed on airport grounds covering a total area of approximately 50,000 square meters and will feature a real-time intelligent monitoring and control system. The installation will provide environmentally friendly electricity, which will cover a significant part of the airport’s own consumption and reduce carbon emissions. The project will be implemented by the end of 2026 and the next stage is planned to include the construction of a battery farm.
