If you are planning a domestic flight from Sofia Airport, it is advisable to be at the airport 2 hours before your departure. From now on, flights will be served from gates located in the inner part of Terminal 2.
This means that you will have the opportunity to take advantage of the shops, restaurants and business lounge located in Terminal 2 before your journey.

SOFIA AIRPORT CERTIFIED FOR FLIGHTS TO THE USA

Sofia Airport has received permission to operate direct flights to the USA. This happened after a team from the US Department of Homeland Security’s Transportation Security Administration inspected Sofia Airport in mid-October 2021, the airport said.

The team assessed the implementation of standards and recommended practices according to international requirements and found that aviation security measures implemented at Bulgaria’s largest airport are effective.

“Intercontinental flights are one step closer. This is one of our strategic objectives for which we have developed a special program with incentives on airport charges to encourage airlines,” said Jesús Caballero, CEO of Sofia Airport.
