SOF Connect in partnership with Fantastico Group and the Association of Olympic Science Teams are opening the exhibition “My Enlighteners” at Terminal 2 of the capital’s airport. This year it is dedicated to Bulgarian Olympic medalists in science and their teachers, and in 18 panels shows the faces of young talents.
In 2023, Bulgarian science Olympians have won 90 medals – 17 gold, 32 silver and 41 bronze – from all international, European and Balkan Olympiads and competitions. From the most prestigious tournaments of the year – the International Olympiads in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Linguistics, Geography, Informatics, Astrophysics and Astronomy the students have been awarded with 42 medals – 9 gold, 10 silver and 23 bronze awards.
“I am glad that on the eve of the bright holidays we are opening the exhibition which is dedicated to and is a great recognition of the Bulgarian Olympians in natural sciences. The achievements of these students, winners of international and European competitions, are an outstanding example of how education and hard work can create a generation of innovators. Their remarkable successes inspire and prove that Bulgaria is home to talented and ambitious young people, ready to create the future.”,” said Jesus Caballero, CEO of SOF Connect, during the opening of the exhibition.
“Our science team leaders don’t produce medal winners, they produce good people who accumulate knowledge and use that knowledge to win medals. Each Olympian’s success is the result of hard work, perseverance, dedication to science and hundreds of hours of preparation. The investment in the Olympic science athletes is an investment in the future of Bulgaria, in its young people who will be the engine of innovation and scientific achievements of our country in the years to come,” said Valkan Goranov, Executive Director of the Association of Olympic Science Teams.
“Thanks to Sofia Airport, which is hosting the exhibition for the second year in a row. With this project, every year we put individuals with outstanding achievements in the center of public attention and financially support causes in the field of education and culture. Investment in young people, attention to them is an investment in our future. I would like to congratulate the students of the Olympic science teams and their leaders, as well as the graduates and teachers of the National Music School for their achievements and for giving us more and more reasons to be proud.”, said Svetoslav Gavrilov, Executive Director of Fantastico Group.
The exhibition was opened with a musical performance by the Vocal Jazz Formation of the Lyubomir Pipkov National Musical School and can be seen by all travellers until 21st of January.
