SOFIA AIRPORT RECEIVED WORKWEAR, MADE BY PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES

Employees of SOF Connect AD, the operator of Sofia Airport, engaged in passenger service, aircraft handling, security, etc., have already received part of their new workwear. As a socially responsible company that follows a policy of supporting causes related to the welfare and support of various social groups in society, SOF Connect chose TPC Quiet Work 2005 to design the new garments.Β  The company employs people with disabilities and the contract for the order was signed at the end of 2021.

The new garments complies with the latest high visibility and rain protection standards EN20471 and BSEN343 and are tailored to the different activities carried out at the airport. For example, for fuel handlers, they will be made of non-flammable fabric and anti-static, which are safety requirements.

Nearly 1 500 work jackets will be 3-in-1 – reflective, with a removable inner fleece, and with removable sleeves and can be converted into a vest. The jackets are of different colours, which will facilitate the recognition of the workers in the different airport services.

Some 630 winter trousers have also been ordered, which are cold- and waterproof and will be for all staff whose activities are entirely related to outdoor work.

1 200 pairs of protective footwear have been purchased and distributed meeting all relevant occupational health and safety standards.

“We are happy to have received the first pieces of workwear. Apart from quality and design, they also have a social cause. It is important for us that our colleagues feel comfortable and well protected while they work,” said Christian Stoschek, Executive Director Ground Handling.

Within a week, a contract will also be signed for the supply of uniforms for all employees involved in passenger services.
