If you are planning a domestic flight from Sofia Airport, it is advisable to be at the airport 2 hours before your departure. From now on, flights will be served from gates located in the inner part of Terminal 2.
This means that you will have the opportunity to take advantage of the shops, restaurants and business lounge located in Terminal 2 before your journey.

SOFIA AIRPORT SERVED OVER HALF A MILLION PASSENGERS IN JANUARY

Traffic still below 2019 levels

Β 516 865 travelled through Sofia Airport in the first month of the year. The data shows that passenger traffic in January did not achieve the levels of 2019, although an increase was reported compared to the past 2 years.

A drop of more than 26% in January was recorded in domestic passengers, where 13 636 passengers were served. Passangers on charter flights also saw a 9% decrease compared to 2019 due to the lack of snow in January when the main traffic is to Bulgaria’s winter resorts.

The best results were observed in those travelling on international scheduled routes, where the statistics report 477 711 passengers served.

Aircraft take-offs and landings at Sofia Airport in the first month of the year reached 4 464, a drop of more than 4% compared to pre-pandemic figures.

The volume of cargo and mail shipments handled in January decreased by 3% compared to 2019 and amounted to 1 627 tonnes.
