THE DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION OF SOFIA AIRPORT WAS DISCUSSED BY JESÚS CABALLERO AND THE MANAGEMENT OF BAIT

The deep digital transformation, which Sofia Airport needs was discussed by the airport’s CEO Jesus Caballero, the airport’s Digital Transformation Director Michalis Senis and the leadership of the Bulgarian Association for Information Technology (BAIT) at a meeting today.

Mr. Cabajero explained in detail the airport’s strategy to become a 5 star airport by 2028 and the key role of digitalization in improving the airport’s processes and passenger comfort. The Executive Director of BAIT Vesela Kalacheva, the Chairman of the Board of the Association Svetozar Iliev and the Deputy Chairman of the Board Ognyan Trayanov discussed in detail the current state of the IT infrastructure and systems at the airport and the upcoming projects that are starting in the field of information technology. Significant investments will be needed to upgrade the airport’s software systems and hardware, and SOF Connect is preparing the implementation of a comprehensive ICT (Information and Communication Technology) plan in this direction, it was also announced at the meeting.

The airport and BAIT will collaborate to exchange knowledge and expertise, and the airport’s IT team will help make future projects known to Bulgarian IT companies so they can participate in the airport’s digital transformation.

“Digitalisation is particularly important to improve processes for a safer, faster and more enjoyable passenger experience. We have a good chance to move directly from obsolete IT technologies to the latest generation of systems for the benefit of a more efficient airport operation,” Jesús Caballero said during the meeting.
