One of the earliest Cyrillic inscriptions is displayed at the airport
Sofia Airport this year also celebrates the Day of the Holy Brothers Cyril and Methodius, of the Bulgarian alphabet, education and culture and of Slavonic literacy. On the occasion, Jesús Caballero, the Airport’s CEO, greeted the company’s employees and all Bulgarians with a video address in Bulgarian.
A reproduction of one of the oldest inscriptions on a stone in Bulgarian written in Cyrillic letters was displayed at Sofia Airport for the Day of Enlightenment. Discovered in 1952, it is more than a thousand years old and is part of the National Archaeological Museum’s exhibition. The exhibit is located at Terminal 2 and the text reads as follows: “Here lies Mostich, who was a chrugouboy under Tsar Simeon and Tsar Peter. At the age of eighty he left the chrugoubil-hood and all his property and became a monk. Thus he came to the end of his life.
