The winter timetable at the capital’s airport starts on 30 October. Travellers on scheduled and charter flights will be able to choose from 27 airlines flying to nearly 90 airports in Europe, Africa and the Middle East.

The start of the winter schedule begins with SKY EXPRESS’ scheduled flights to Athens. The carrier’s aircraft will fly to the Greek capital five times a week on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays.

In mid-December, Sofia Airport will become home to the seventh Wizz Air aircraft based in our capital. The airline is also launching two new routes on 13.12 – Hamburg and Stockholm. Flights to Germany’s second largest city will be on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, while the carrier will fly to Sweden’s capital twice – on Tuesdays and Sundays. The basing of Wizz Air’s 7th aircraft, increased frequencies to some of the destinations, and the opening of the two new routes will add an additional 500,000 trips to and from the Bulgarian capital per year.

Ryanair will also operate its flights to the Jordanian resort of Aqaba this winter season two times per week.

Warm weather enthusiasts will be able to take advantage of the capital’s charter programme offering with destinations in Turkey, Egypt, Jordan, Tunisia, Morocco, Tanzania, Thailand and Kenya. ‘Ski’ charters have also been booked from Belfast, Birmingham, Newcastle, the East Midlands and Bristol.

Sofia Airport continues to increase air connectivity to the Bulgarian capital as part of the overall airport development strategy. The airport said it is in continuous negotiations with airlines to open new routes.
